'Home Additions - Kitchens Part II' is the second of a series of articles pertaining to...you guessed it, home additions! Adding on to your home is an exciting process, and at times can even be exhausting. We're here to share a little insight into the process, from planning and budgeting to designing and functionality. Since 1979, Erickson Construction Co., Inc. has helped hundreds of homeowners with their home addition and remodeling projects, and we're happy to be sharing our extensive home improvement experience with you throughout this series.
Materials & Design
In our previous article, we discussed planning and budgeting. Now that these steps are completed, the next two steps include choosing your materials and confirming the overall design and layout of the new kitchen addition.
Let's start with design and layout. When deciding on these two items, keep in mind the overall flow of the home. The design is going to be based off of your future plans or goals which were previously discussed in our last article. A kitchen addition built for a retiring couple is going to be much different from a kitchen addition which is being built for a growing family. Erickson Construction Co., Inc. designers will work hand in hand with you to ensure the right kitchen is installed for you. Once overall design is agreed upon, the next step is deciding on your materials.
Materials will include your cabinets, flooring, appliances, handles & hardware and everything in between. But don't feel overwhelmed. Yes, there are lots of choices to make. However, our kitchen design experts will offer input and know-how, allowing you to make the best decisions for you and your home. Also, keep in mind when it comes to materials that your overall budget will effect what your choices will be. Lower budgets may have fewer materials to choose from, where as a larger budget will have a vast amount of materials to choose from.
